October 2011 Meeting Minutes

Visitors: Jon Snow, Tanya Backer, Josh Smith, Patrick Brewer

Officer Reports: Glen Goldsmith motions for minutes approval, Natasha Glasgow seconds, no opposing votes.  Quartermaster and Librarian Bill Steele gives an excellent report as always.  QM has no change, still have the 2 ladders and the surveying gear.  Librarians report, Amethyst, Natasha, Payton and Jay have books/dvds out.  Vice Chair Ed Goff (absent) report:  Italian cave video "L'Abisso (The Abyss)" to be finished this month, then Bill talks about NSS, TCR and the Fall NSS BOG meeting.  Treasurer Diana Tomchick reports that we have $859.15  and approxinatekt $700 out for tshirts soon to repay Diana for fronting the cost.  She was also taking in money for shirts that were reserved.

Old business: Tshirts are in, closing that item down.

New business: Natasha wants to do a facebook page, I asked her to get with Ed Goff, our webmaster.

Nominations for officers: Chair - Steve Webb, Vice-Chair - Natasha, Secretary - Charles, Treasurer - Diana.

Natasha is also offering to host the holiday party, Dec 10th, it will be a potluck.

The Texas Speleogical Assocation presented the Chuck Stuehm award to Steve Webb during the TCR event, Bill delivered it to the grotto and presented.  All grottos were asked to nominate a member that is an outstanding and unusual enthusiast new caver.

Trip Announcements: Nov 7th for an urban spelunking trip, talk to Josh Smith for details.

Our highway cleanup project has 2 dates scheduled: 10:30am on the 29th of Oct and again Nov 19th.

Spring Creek cave, Dec 3rd, in Kendall County, NW of San Antonio, talk to Bill for details.

Trip reports: Natasha talked about the Longhorn trip during TCR, Charles talked about his recent trip to New Mexico.
