June 2010 Minutes

Katy and Udi called the meeting to order at 7:04pm.

Members in Attendance: Steve Webb, Bill Steele, Will Harris, Glen Goldsmith, Charles Goldsmith, Shawn Ruzek, Katy Roodenko, Udi Fuchs, Edwin Lehr, Jay Jorden.

Officer Reports:  March,April, and May's meeting minutes were motioned for approval by Udi, Glen seconded, motion passed.  Edwin, treasury,  reported that the grotto has $908.15.  Steve, librarian, reported that he had 4 books out with 3 people, 2 of which are out 2 months.  Charles asked if that was considered outstanding, and Steve said we had no precedent.  Bill Steele made a motion that people with overdue books would have to do a book report.  Charles seconded, motion passed with 2 votes opposing.  Nothing was said about enforcing this motion.

Charles, blog editor, urged everyone to please submit content for the web blog.

Bill, quartermaster, reported that we had the same 2 cable ladders, but also that we have gained a Leica Disto that is avaiable to be checked out by all members.  He has yet to purchase the grotto Sento Tandem.  Bill demoed the use of the disto, explaining that it was Swiss technology, but it was noted that the device was made in Hungary.

Bill, vice-chair, reported that the July program will be put on by Diana, about their recent Mexico trip, August by Will on vertical, or whatever he comes up with.  September will be done by Steve, over lights used in caving, and October by Charles, subject TBD.  November is open for anyone that wants to give a program.

Old Business: The disto purchase is complete, Bill still has to purchase the Sento Tandem.  Constitution revision is still open, Charles is waiting on Udi and Will to look through the suggested changes.

New Business: No new business was discussed.

Annoucements: Strickland pool party, July 10th, Bill states that its the 2nd best caver social event of the year in Texas.  TSA calendar can be used by any tsa member that has an online username/password on the TSA site, Butch, TSA Webmaster, urges people to use it to annouce events.

Trip Reports: Glen gave a report about the lighting project on-going at Cascade Caverns, he, Charles, Steve and Tammy Freelen spent 4 days there camping, eating well, helping out in the cave with light installs, and ridgewalking.

Trip Annoucements: Charles is heading back to Cascade Caverns this weekend (June 26-27th).  Bill mentioned that the grotto has a project at Spring Creek Cave, but that we likely cannot return until November due to the bats.
